I'm Jessica, an editor with over 20 years' experience in the book publishing industry. I have worked on books about careers, education, self-help and parenting as well as books for children and gift books for adults. I've even worked on puzzle books, activity books and a couple children's fiction titles. I bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise to every project, always keeping the needs of the final reader in mind and making sure that every manuscript receives the professional touch it deserves. I am a professional member of the Chartered Institute for Editing and Proofreading (CIEP) and I am bound by their code of practice. I also have Masters in Publishing as well as inhouse and freelance editing experience.

Development Editing
Development editing (also called structural editing) is a chance for someone to look at the big picture of your book, thinking about structure and content as a whole and how it serves the reader. This is a very much a collaborative process and I will work closely with you to make sure your work achieves your goals. Find out more here.

Copyediting happens before the book is typeset. I will check the text for grammar, spelling and clarity, as well as making sure everything is tagged correctly for typesetting so that all headings and text features are correctly styled. Find out more here.

Proofreading
Proofreading is the last check before the book goes to print. It's a chance to catch any errors that have slipped through earlier edits, as well as make sure the overall layout of the text is correct, headings are all the same style, page numbers are present and in the right position and images are displayed the right way.
